God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.
John the Baptist, who was in prison, heard about all the things the Messiah was doing. So he sent his disciples to ask Jesus,
“At nine o’clock in the morning he was passing through the marketplace and saw some people standing around doing nothing.
If anyone asks what you are doing, just say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will immediately let you take them.”
23 When Jesus returned to the Temple and began teaching, the leading priests and elders came up to him. They demanded, “By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right?”
Then Jesus asked them, “Didn’t you ever read this in the Scriptures? ‘The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. This is the Lord’s doing, and it is wonderful to see.’
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
But Jesus, aware of this, replied, “Why criticize this woman for doing such a good thing to me?
Then he turned to his critics and asked, “Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him.
If anyone asks, ‘What are you doing?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it and will return it soon.’”
As they were untying it, some bystanders demanded, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”
They demanded, “By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right to do them?”
This is the Lord’s doing, and it is wonderful to see.’”
But Jesus replied, “Leave her alone. Why criticize her for doing such a good thing to me?
Then Jesus said to his critics, “I have a question for you. Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?”
18 The disciples of John the Baptist told John about everything Jesus was doing. So John called for two of his disciples,
7 When Herod Antipas, the ruler of Galilee, heard about everything Jesus was doing, he was puzzled. Some were saying that John the Baptist had been raised from the dead.
Awe gripped the people as they saw this majestic display of God’s power.While everyone was marveling at everything he was doing, Jesus said to his disciples,

Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.
So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished.
The world can’t hate you, but it does hate me because I accuse it of doing evil.
Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”
After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing?
Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.
For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God.
“People of Israel, listen! God publicly endorsed Jesus the Nazarene by doing powerful miracles, wonders, and signs through him, as you well know.

They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.
For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.
But if I know that what I am doing is wrong, this shows that I agree that the law is good.
