Годолия, сын Ахикама, сына Сафанова, клялся им и людям их, говоря: не бойтесь служить Халдеям, оставайтесь на земле и служите царю Вавилонскому, и будет вам хорошо;
And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

Gedaliah vowed to them that the Babyloniansa meant them no harm. “Don’t be afraid to serve them. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and all will go well for you,” he promised.
