True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they were unfaithful, does that mean God will be unfaithful?
Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him, “You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.”
We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
Remember that Christ came as a servant to the Jews to show that God is true to the promises he made to their ancestors.
This confirms that what I told you about Christ is true.
You say, “Food was made for the stomach, and the stomach for food.” (This is true, though someday God will do away with both of them.) But you can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.
It’s true that we can’t win God’s approval by what we eat. We don’t lose anything if we don’t eat it, and we don’t gain anything if we do.
You are reasonable people. Decide for yourselves if what I am saying is true.
And the same is true for you. Since you are so eager to have the special abilities the Spirit gives, seek those that will strengthen the whole church.
It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you — unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.
And we apostles would all be lying about God — for we have said that God raised Christ from the grave. But that can’t be true if there is no resurrection of the dead.
In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.
