19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal.
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’
But when the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with such scum?”
He went into the house of God, and he and his companions broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread that only the priests are allowed to eat.
“Why do your disciples disobey our age-old tradition? For they ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat.”
Then Peter said to Jesus, “Explain to us the parable that says people aren’t defiled by what they eat.”
“Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.
She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their masters’ table.”
32 Then Jesus called his disciples and told them, “I feel sorry for these people. They have been here with me for three days, and they have nothing left to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry, or they will faint along the way.”
“As you go into the city,” he told them, “you will see a certain man. Tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My time has come, and I will eat the Passover meal with my disciples at your house.’”
As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.”
But when the teachers of religious law who were Pharisees saw him eating with tax collectors and other sinners, they asked his disciples, “Why does he eat with such scum?”
23 One Sabbath day as Jesus was walking through some grainfields, his disciples began breaking off heads of grain to eat.
He went into the house of God (during the days when Abiathar was high priest) and broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread that only the priests are allowed to eat. He also gave some to his companions.”
20 One time Jesus entered a house, and the crowds began to gather again. Soon he and his disciples couldn’t even find time to eat.
Jesus gave them strict orders not to tell anyone what had happened, and then he told them to give her something to eat.
Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.
Send the crowds away so they can go to the nearby farms and villages and buy something to eat.”
(The Jews, especially the Pharisees, do not eat until they have poured water over their cupped hands, as required by their ancient traditions.
Similarly, they don’t eat anything from the market until they immerse their hands in water. This is but one of many traditions they have clung to — such as their ceremonial washing of cups, pitchers, and kettles.)
So the Pharisees and teachers of religious law asked him, “Why don’t your disciples follow our age-old tradition? They eat without first performing the hand-washing ceremony.”
She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even the dogs under the table are allowed to eat the scraps from the children’s plates.”
“I feel sorry for these people. They have been here with me for three days, and they have nothing left to eat.
Then Jesus said to the tree, “May no one ever eat your fruit again!” And the disciples heard him say it.
At the house he enters, say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?’
But the Pharisees and their teachers of religious law complained bitterly to Jesus’ disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with such scum?”
He went into the house of God and broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread that only the priests can eat. He also gave some to his companions.”
36 One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him, so Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat.
And at that moment her life returned, and she immediately stood up! Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.
Late in the afternoon the twelve disciples came to him and said, “Send the crowds away to the nearby villages and farms, so they can find food and lodging for the night. There is nothing to eat here in this remote place.”
“If you enter a town and it welcomes you, eat whatever is set before you.
‘A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.’
His host was amazed to see that he sat down to eat without first performing the hand-washing ceremony required by Jewish custom.
And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’
22 Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life — whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear.
“And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things.
The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded. I tell you the truth, he himself will seat them, put on an apron, and serve them as they sit and eat!
1 One Sabbath day Jesus went to eat dinner in the home of a leader of the Pharisees, and the people were watching him closely.
“When a servant comes in from plowing or taking care of sheep, does his master say, ‘Come in and eat with me’?
No, he says, ‘Prepare my meal, put on your apron, and serve me while I eat. Then you can eat later.’
Jesus sent Peter and John ahead and said, “Go and prepare the Passover meal, so we can eat it together.”

Jesus said, “I have been very eager to eat this Passover meal with you before my suffering begins.
For I tell you now that I won’t eat this meal again until its meaning is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”
to eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. And you will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
As they sat down to eat, he took the bread and blessed it. Then he broke it and gave it to them.
Still they stood there in disbelief, filled with joy and wonder. Then he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
Meanwhile, the disciples were urging Jesus, “Rabbi, eat something.”
After all, our ancestors ate manna while they journeyed through the wilderness! The Scriptures say, ‘Moses gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
Then the people began arguing with each other about what he meant. “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” they asked.
